— On Wednesday, Nov. 21, two members of the Warwick Valley Seniors Club, Rose Mangiameli and Jerry Fischetti, shared something they have in common.
They were both born in November 1928 and this was the celebration of their 90th birthdays.
Rose MangiameliMangiameli was born and raised in Mount Vernon.
After her wedding, she and her husband, Michael, who has since passed away, moved to the Bronx. And later she moved to Warwick.
Today Mangiameli can boast about her daughter Carol, a registered nurse at St. Anthony Community Hospital, and her son Joseph, who lives in Massachusetts, as well as her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She attributes her long and healthy life to keeping busy, eating the right food, walking and never smoking or drinking.
Jerry FischettiFischetti was born and raised in a small community near Naples, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1947.
He then lived in Brooklyn where he met and married his wife, Lucy.
The couple recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary at Warwick Seniors Club.
Fischetti became a skilled tool-and-die maker and the couple decided to move to this area because he was managing a machine shop in Chester at that time.
They raised three sons in Warwick and can now boast about their four grandchildren, three girls and one boy.
Fischetti keeps busy as a volunteer at St. Anthony Community Hospital.
He gave up smoking many years ago and although he doesn't drink, he did make wine.
"I just never drank any," he said.
Both Mangiameli and Fischetti expressed their appreciation to Marie Sisti, president of the Warwick Valley Seniors Club, for her work in arranging these celebrations.
EssentialsSisti often suggests joining and becoming an active member of her organization may have something to do with good health and longevity.
The only requirement for membership in The Warwick Valley Seniors Club is that you must be age 60 or over.
Anyone interested in joining or wanting additional information about the Warwick Valley Seniors Club should call Marie Sisti at 988 - 0793.
