Thomas Justin (TJ) Kurtz

    Thomas Justin Kurtz passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was 34 years old, the son of Linda Alberts Kurtz and the late William Paul Kurtz.

    He is survived by four siblings: Frank Kurtz of Staten Island, Joanne Hurley of Ormond Beach Florida, Paul Kurtz of Warwick and Matthew Kurtz of Warwick.

    He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nephews and a great niece and a brother-law and a sister-in law. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

    T.J. was born at Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen and lived and grew up in Warwick, attending Warwick schools. T. J. received his Associate's Degree from Sullivan County Community College and his Bachelor's Degree from Empire State College.

    He loved to play golf, having started playing at a very young age at the Warwick Valley Country Club. He played on the golf team in the Warwick Valley School District and also in Sullivan Country Community College, receiving the MVP Award for the Mid-Hudson Conference in 2005.

    He loved working at his aunt and uncle’s business, “Grammy’s Garden." He enjoyed working there and did well at it; he actually ran it at one point. He had a great time there enjoying his fellow workers, as well as his Aunt Sandy and Uncle Mark.

    He moved to Ormond Beach, Florida, in 2013 to begin a new chapter in his life. He was close to his sister Joanne, his brother-in-law Andy, his nephews Slayden, Rustin and Owen, and all of their friends.

    He built yachts for a living and made great friends at his workplace.

    In his free time he enjoyed walking the beach, fishing on his favorite dock on the Halifax River at sunset, cooking for his friends and family and sitting on the balcony of his condo with an amazing view of the river, the ocean and fireworks at night.

    He loved Jesus, reading God’s word and sharing his grace and truth with others.The family will gather in Florida for a private service in November of this year.
