Thomas Harris of Pine Island, a retired supervisor at Mid-Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick, entered into rest on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was 87.

The son of Jess Harris and Alberta Williams Harris, he was born on Nov. 27, 1933, in Malden, Missouri.

He was a member of the Pine Island Seniors. Tom was an avid hunter and loved deep sea fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Harris; daughters Renee Harris and Cheryl Harris; granddaughters Valerie Rogowski and Jaclyn and Rachel Moraczewski; brothers Carl Harris (Ann) of Panama City, Fla., and Kenneth Harris (Helen) of Malden, Missouri; sister Vernitta Cowell of Arkansas; sister-in-law Jean Harris; sister-in-law Stella Pevear (Ed) of Gouverneur; brother-in-law John Zupetz (Charlotte) of Bloomingburg; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Lisa Ann Harris and Cathy Rogowski; sisters, Violet and Laverne; and brothers Glen and Ronald Lee.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, from 3 to 5 p.m., at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route# 1, Pine Island.

Due to the current pandemic situation, a funeral service and burial will be held privately.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines set forth from the state face coverings are required and the number of visitors allowed in the funeral home are limited so we ask that those that may have to wait to enter please follow social distancing guidelines.
