Robert D. Yungman

    Robert D. Yungman, a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Anthony Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was 84 years old.

    Born in Goshen on Dec. 31, 1936, he was the son of George W. and Helen (Banker) Yungman.

    Robert served in the United States Army ranking as a SP4 and was an inventory agent with Warwick Valley Telephone Company for 26 years prior to retirement.

    He also worked as a conductor on the Lehigh & Hudson River Railroad.

    As a master woodworker, Robert built the altar rail at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a longstanding member.

    He loved to cook, but especially smoke meats, make sauerkraut and bake rye bread to share with his family and friends.

    Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Beryl (nee Goldsmith); daughter Bry L. Stewart and her husband Joseph of Littleton, Colorado; brothers G. Thomas Yungman and his wife Rachel of Hardy, Virginia, and Bruce A. Yungman of Louisville, Kentucky; nieces, a nephew and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Molvina A. Wanat.

    A private graveside service was held in Warwick Cemetery with the Rev. Michael H. Barry, Jr. officiating.
