Richard P. Hennig of Warwick passed away peacefully on Aug. 11, 2023, at Schervier Pavilion. He was 88 years old.

Born in New York City on Dec. 19, 1934, he was the son of Paul A. and Hazel H. (Hess) Hennig.

Early in his career, Richard worked for N.J.Bell. He then became the head of buildings and grounds for Waldwick School District in New Jersey, where he worked until his retirement. He was also a member of the Waldwick Fire Department for many years.

Richard was lovingly called “Moosie” by those who knew him best, a nickname that had stuck with him from a young age.

Richard enjoyed being outside and taking care of his home. He was a jack of all trades and could build or fix anything; he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren with whom he shared much of his knowledge.

Richard is survived by his daughters Barbara Watch of Pine Island and Cheryl Stelter of St. Louis, Mo.; sons Jeffrey Scott Hennig of The Villages, Fla., and Richard P. Hennig Jr. of Woodland Park, N.J.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean (nee McCalla) and sister Margaret Hennig.

Private arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
