Richard L. “Red” Muir

Richard L. “Red” Muir of Campbell Hall, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. The son of Louis and Miriam McKibben Muir, he was born on November 26, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 85 years old. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1958 – 1960.

Richard was a service manager for Mid City Transit, Middletown, NY. He was a member of Montgomery America Legion, and he was a competitor for many years and later an official in stock car racing at the Orange County Fair Speedway.

Survivors are his wife, Kathleen Decker Muir at home; son, Martin Muir and his wife, Angela, of Clayton, NC; daughter, Pamela Fitzpatrick of Montgomery; brother, Robert Muir of Walden; grandchildren: Danielle, Ian, Shannon, Andrew, Nicholas and Kristin; great grandchildren: Aidan, Erin, Eisley and Callan; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew Muir and brother, Wilbur ”Willy” Muir.

Cremation was in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial of his cremains will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Washingtonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Children’s Hospitals, 2900 No. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
