Margaret 'Rita' Fenton

Margaret “Rita” Fenton of Warwick (formerly of New City, N.Y., Cooperstown, N.Y., and Stuart, Fla.), passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years old.

Born in the Bronx on Nov. 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Mary (McMarrow) and James J. Hayes.

Rita was married to Patrick J. Fenton. They enjoyed spending time with family at their vacation home in Cooperstown where they spent almost 46 years with children and grandchildren and at their home in Stuart, Fla., that they had for 30 years.

Rita is survived by her husband of 62 years, Patrick; children: Patrick Fenton Jr. and his wife Uschi, James Fenton and his wife Diane, Mary Jean Romano and her husband Rick, Kathleen Eder and her husband Karl, Shawn Fenton and his wife Diane, and Thomas Fenton; 15 grandchildren: Kevin(Kristi) Fenton, Kerstin Fenton, Kerry Fenton, Brian Fenton, Jillian Fenton, Brady Fenton, Ricky Romano, Andrew Romano, Daniel Romano, Maggie Romano, Emily Eder, Brendan Eder, Shawn Fenton, Patrick Fenton and Mark Fenton; two great-grandchildren: Sam and Luke; and her sister Marie Stock of Queens. She was predeceased by a son, Mark, and daughter, Margaret Fenton.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, at St. Stephen the First Martyr Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.
