Magdalene D. VanDuynhoven

Magdalene D. VanDuynhoven of Warwick passed away on Dec. 21, 2020, at Schervier Pavilion after a brief illness. She was 89 years old.

Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Michael and Martha (Joanos) Demetroules.

She was predeceased by Engel VanDuynhoven and Robert VanRiper.

Prior to retirement, Maggie was a bank teller with Key Bank in Warwick.

She was a past president and an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of VFW post #4662 in Warwick.

Maggie was a loving mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren.

Maggie loved to bake and cook for her family, she was an avid reader and loved to sew for her family and friends.

Her family’s statement reads: “We would like to thank the staff at Schervier Pavilion for the wonderful, loving care they gave to Maggie.”

Maggie is survived by her daughter, Martha (nee VanRiper) Tamburo and her significant other Edward of Monroe; granddaughters Melissa Henlon of Middletown and Jennifer Tamburo of Monroe; great grandchildren: Destiny, Donavon and Myron; also survived by sisters-in-law Anne Marie Demetroules of Sussex, N.J., and Corry Van Duynhoven of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her brothers Demitrius, Nicholas and Alexander Demetroules.

Private arrangements have been made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
