Gary Lawrence of Greenwood Lake (formerly of Stony Point) passed at the age of 62 on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

He was born in Madelia, Minnesota, on May 25, 1959, to Larry L. “Shorty” and Karen Ann (Brummond) Lawrence and was raised in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Gary proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1979-1982 and was a Steamfitter with Local 638 for more than 30 years.

Gary was an avid Harley rider, boating, hunting, fishing, cooking and catering. He had an outstanding personality and would strike up a conversation with anyone.

He and his wife Jayne are members of the Greenwood Lake community, as well as the Holy Rosary Church and American Legion Post 1443 in Greenwood Lake.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jayne (nee Castillo) Lawrence; daughters Natasha Kasischke and her husband Kevin of St. Joseph, Michigan; Rebecca Lawrence of Quantico, Virginia; and two grandsons, Jaxon and Anthony; his mother, Karen Ann Ellingson and her husband Michael Ellingson of Sierra Vista, Arizona; his brother Gregory and his wife Diane of Cambridge, Minnesota; and Steven of Sierra Vista, Arizona; sister Dawn of Sierra Vista, Arizona; mother-in-law, Angela Risden of Greenwood Lake; and extended family members.

Visitation was held June 16 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 17 at Holy Rosary Church 41 Windermere Ave., Greenwood Lake.

Cremation will be private.

Donations can be made to the Holy Rosary Church or the American Legion.
