Gary B. Burriss of Warwick passed away peacefully at Westchester Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020. He was 69 years old.

Born on May 26, 1951, in Bethesda, Maryland, he was the son of Carl and Shirley Burriss.

To sum up Gary’s life and the impact of his love in one statement is impossible. He was larger than life and so full of humor, energy and wit.

Hilarious, hardworking and an incredibly talented craftsman, Gary loved his hometown of Warwick, eating Maryland blue crabs and listening to country music.

He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back before you realized you even needed it.

Gary’s love for his family, friends and friends who became family just poured out of him. He adored his five beautiful grandchildren. You could see it every time they were together and it was pure joy watching him get to know each one of them.

Gary is already missed by his wife, his loving children, neighbors and everyone whose life was touched by his generosity and kindness.

Gary will be sorely missed, but never forgotten by those who survive him: his wife Tracey (Greene) Burriss of Warwick; daughter Emily Knight and her husband Brett of Montgomery; daughter Cassie Phillips and her husband Kevin of Bel Air, Maryland; son Zachary Burriss and his wife Allison of Forest Hill, Maryland; and stepson Jesse Douglas and his fiancée Alex Kanter of New York City; sister Susan Burris of Tampa, Florida; and five grandchildren: Sara, Hayley, Brody, Emi and Makenzie.
