Elizabeth ‘Betty’ A. Ault

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Ault of Warwick passed away on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020. She was 90 years old.

Betty was born July 18, 1930, in Hackensack, N.J., the younger daughter of George and Helen (Randall) Schopmeier.

She graduated from Hackensack High School in 1949 and was married to Wilbur “Bill” Ault in 1951. They were happily married almost 65 years when he passed in 2016.

Betty shared her kindness and caring nature through her work as a receptionist and medical records clerk for Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., Bergen Pines Hospital in Paramus, N.J., and Hackensack Hospital in Hackensack, N.J.

She loved to serve at church, teaching Sunday school for elementary and middle school children, and establishing libraries or serving in already-established libraries for the churches she attended. She did this at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Teaneck, N.J.; Grace Church in Ridgewood, N.J.; Grace Community Church in Franklin Lakes, N.J., Bethany Church in Wyckoff, N.J., and most recently at Valley Bible Church in Warwick, N.Y.

Betty leaves behind a large and loving family, including her five children: Marilyn Hohnholt and her husband Larry of Houston, Texas, Fred Ault and his wife Robin of Warwick, Janet Begnoche and her husband Joe of Goshen, Susan Quigley and her husband Ed of Orlando, Fla., and Steven Ault and his wife Irena of Kunkletown, Pa; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; parents; her twin brother William; and her sister Barbara Labagh.

Private arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A memorial service was held by video conference on Jan. 3. Interment will be in Hackensack.
