Catherine K. Doty, a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away on Aug. 28, 2023, in Warwick, surrounded by her loving family. She was 100 years old.

Born on Feb. 14, 1923, in Elmira, she was the daughter of William F. and Mary (nee Larkin) Kelly.

She was married to Larry W. Doty Sr. (2005)

Catherine was a woman before her time, graduating Elmira College in 1944.Upon graduating she was hired as a teacher In the Warwick Valley School District. It is there she met her adoring husband of 60 years, Larry.

She left teaching and besides being a full-time Mom, she worked alongside her husband running his Bulk Milk service business taking on many roles including bookkeeping, although, if necessary, she could drive a Mack truck. She was a homemaker in every way, having nine children. She opened her home to all that needed a safe place to eat, play and be loved both young and old.

The coffee was always on and her kitchen table served as the place many friends gathered to share their lives and troubles. Catherine Marie, as many of them called her, had a calming effect with her open arms and loving heart.

Catherine was an active member of St. Stephen Church for many years and a member of the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her eight children: Elizabeth “Beth” Doty and wife Kathryn Samer of Warwick; William “Bill” Doty of Warwick; Barbara Knapp and her husband Ray of Warwick; Susan “Sue” Doty-Lloyd of Westtown; Cathleen Doty of Fort Collins, Colorado; Larry W. Doty Jr. of Warwick; W. Patrick Doty and his wife Theresa of Westtown; Mary Perry-Thistle and her husband Benjamin of San Francisco, California; and Sally G. Doty daughter-in-law of Afton. Four grandchildren: Kyle Knapp, Sidney Perry-Thistle, Jacob Perry-Thistle and Marissa King, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Robert Doty, brother Dr. William M. Kelly, daughter-in-law Judy Doty, son-in-law T. Marshall Swartwood and brother-in-law W. Roger Doty.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at St. Stephen Church, 75 Stanfordville Road, Warwick. Burial will follow at Warwick Cemetery.
