Calling all young artists: The Warwick Advertiser’s Wrapping Paper Contest is back.

For the second year, we are inviting local kids to draw up their best holiday wrapping paper design. The winning artist will have their work printed across the newspaper’s centerspread for locals to use as wrapping paper this holiday season.

Here’s how it works

Between now and Nov. 29, local kids ages 12 and below will create their wrapping paper designs. When designs are finished, artists submit their work by dropping it off at one of the following participating retailers:

• Cafe e Dolci: 31 Main St., Warwick

• Frazzleberries: 24 Main St., Warwick

• Style Counsel: 19 Main St., Warwick

• Forever Jewelers: 36 Main St., Warwick

• The Bungalow: 21 Main St., Warwick

• Dream Donuts: 72 South St., Warwick

• Track 7 Postal Center: 3 Forester Ave., Warwick

• Newhards: 39 Main St., Warwick

• Warwick Valley Olive Oil: 20 Railroad Ave., Warwick

• Grappa: 22 Railroad Ave., Warwick

After the Nov. 29 deadline, all entries will be collected by The Warwick Advertiser and submitted to its panel of judges, who will choose the top six semifinalists. The top six will feature two entries from each age group: 6 and younger, 7-10, and 11-12.

Semifinalists’ entries will be printed in The Warwick Advertiser and readers will vote for their favorites online from Dec. 3-10. The design with the most votes will be turned into wrapping paper, printed across The Warwick Advertiser’s centerspread on Dec. 17.

Rules and tips

All entries must be created on a white 8.5’’x11’’ piece of paper with the following information on the back: artist’s name, age, school, address and phone number.

Bold, bright colors and repetitive patterns work best.

The deadline is Nov. 29, but submitting entries early is highly recommended.

Do not use a computer or store-bought stencils or stamps. Do not draw commercial characters.

Use markers, paint, crayons and/or colored pencils.

Original artwork must be submitted; no photocopies. Due to the volume of entries, designs will not be returned. There is no purchase necessary to participate in this contest.
