Newburgh. Learn to use a quill pen this weekend at Washington’s Headquarters

| 25 Jul 2023 | 02:58

Gen. George Washington and his aides-de-camp wrote more than 1,000 letters and orders with a quill and ink while at Hasbrouck House during the Revolutionary War and now you can, too.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, you are invited to Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh to create your own distinctive way of writing when you learn to use a quill pen.

Drop-in craft is open to all ages and is free with a museum admission that includes a self-guided exploration of the exhibits and guided tours of Washington’s Headquarters and the restored Tower of Victory.

Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site is located at the corner of Liberty and Washington streets in the City of Newburgh’s East End Historic District.
