The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival operates a little different. It’s not just a single stage event. The festival is held in multiple locations, clubs, cafes, restaurants, performing arts centers and parks.

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival celebrates it’s 14th season Aug 9-13. The purpose of this series is to feature Hudson Valley jazz artists leading groups.

In its 14th year the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival has gone regional with over 20 performances in five days from Woodstock to Port Jervis and several spots in between.

This series while having presented top names in jazz such as The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Arturo O’Farrill and Wallace Roney is about celebrating the music utilizing the many jazz players living there:

Vocalist/saxophonist Camille Thurman with the Darrell Green Quartet will light the stage in Sugar Loaf. From Eric Person in Newburgh who has worked with Dave Holland to Joe Vincent Tranchina out of Greenwood Lake who’s worked with Joe Lovano to Bob Meyer in Cortland Manor, a regular in the late John Abercrombie group, to Teri Roiger in Woodstock who has brought her vocal style to a host of names.To vibraphonist Bill Ware, David Amram, Robert Kopec, Mike Jackson, Rave Tesar and so many more.

This year is also the year of the valley’s women in jazz with shows led by Judi Silvano, Vanessa Racci and Nancy Donnelly including Gabriele Tranchina.
