Albert Wisner Public Library host Peter and the Wolf holiday concert

To celebrate the spirit of the holiday season, the Albert Wisner Public Library is offering gift of music to the community. Please come to a holiday concert, Peter and the Wolf and more, on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m.

The entire orchestral woodwind family will be represented in the performance by members of the Women’s Woodwind Quintet: Andrea Herr on bassoon, Carla Lacellotti-Auld on the flute, Ellen Katz Willner on the oboe, Lauren Hosford on the French horn and Megan Shumate Beaumont on the clarinet.

Peter and the Wolf was written and composed by Sergei Prokofiev. It tells the story of Peter, a young boy who ignores his grandfather’s request to stay away from a local wolf.

Instead, Peter sets out to capture the wolf himself.

The performance will be complete with costumes and a narrator.

The Quintet will also perform music from the well-loved Nutcracker Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky and Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens.

This performance is for all age groups, adults and families. Preceding the performance there will fun craft project for children at 1 p.m. in the Gallery area.
