WARWICK — ShopRite of Warwick has just completed its long awaited extensive renovations.
And on Saturday, Oct. 7, state, county and local officials along with members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined company executives and staff to celebrate its grand re-opening with a ribbon -cutting ceremony.
Actually, the store never closed and remained open for the past 10 months as it undertook a project to provide additional space for its fresh food, local and organic products by adding an 11,825 - square foot extension to the north side of its facility that would increase the store's current square footage to approximately 68,000 square feet.
During his welcoming remarks, Store Manager Charlie Sladek expressed his gratitude for the patience of loyal shoppers and he apologized for any inconveniences they may have experienced during these improvements.
He also praised the Warwick community, its citizens, the many organizations that ShopRite supports and his managers and staff.
There are numerous improvements, including a prepared foods department with an in-store grill, floral department, expanded ShopRite from Home program and a Mobile Scan feature.
And there is also an expanded produce department, which also features locally grown products and improved meat and seafood departments.
Renovations include energy-saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration and lighting, glass doors on the dairy and freezer cases, LED lighting throughout the store and its parking lot and an improved refrigeration system.
The new high-tech feature, Mobile Scan, is a free service that allows customers to use the camera on their personal mobile device to scan barcodes of items as they shop, along with self-checkout lanes.
