GREENWOOD LAKE — The Rooster Café Bistro has moved to the center of Greenwood Lake.
On Monday, Dec. 12, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, along with members of the Greenwood Lake and Warwick Chambers of Commerce, joined co-owners Sel Gunver and his wife Tina and their son Alex to celebrate the new location of Rooster Café Bistro at 92 Windermere Ave.
The building at the intersection of Windermere Avenue and Oak Street has served as home to several restaurants in its long history.
The Rooster Café Bistro, formerly located at 699 Jersey Ave. in Greenwood Lake, is best known for its creative sandwiches, crepes, wraps and desserts prepared in chef Tina Gunver's kitchen where every meal, she said, is prepared as it's ordered, with all fresh ingredients.
For more than 16 years, the Turkish-trained executive chef has been creating a fusion of Greek, French and Italian food.
Rooster Cafe Bistro offers breakfast, lunch and dinners, eat in or takeout, at any time.
And egg dishes, ranging from bacon and egg on a croissant to Eggs Benedict dishes are hallmarks, along with specialties like goat or veggie panini.
Main courses feature gyro platters like grilled lamb and beef slices or thin sliced, marinated chicken breast on rice with Orzo, grilled vegetables, Tzatziki and pita bread as well as vegetarian dishes. The dessert menu includes Turkish Baklava, a sweet pastry made with layers of filo dough and butter, with chopped walnuts and sweetened with syrup.
The restaurant offers specialty coffees and freshly squeezed juices to accompany your meal but if you want beer or wine with your dinner, BYOB to accompany your selection.
