WARWICK — In the continuing celebration of the Warwick Village Sesquicentennial, everyone is welcome to participate in First Responders’ Day on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Railroad Green.

This is a celebration to commemorate, thank and interact with all the men and women who work behind the scenes of the Town and Village of Warwick.

Whether it is an emergency or a festivity, a parade or a snow day, these are the people who serve the community.

This event is being held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week when school children learn the important rules, safety precautions and general information from local firefighters.

First Responders’ Day will include events such as “Touch a Truck,” where children of all ages will be able to explore and get hands on interaction with vehicles from local EMS, ambulance, police, fire and DPW departments.

There will be a ceremony at noon to thank not only the members of all these departments, but also to honor their families, too, as their roles play a huge part of the continuing effort by these men and women.

There will be K9 demonstrations, car seat checks and historical items will also be on display not only at the event but in Newhard’s storefront windows. Some of these items even date back to the late 1800s.

For those who like prizes and balloons, history and nostalgia, fire horns and ambulance whirls, dump trucks, police dogs and cake, come to First Responders’ Day.
