WARWICK — Warwick artist/builder Daniel Mack is starting two series of Winter Weekend Workshops in ways to use natural materials.

Both are suitable for artists, novice builders, interested teens and older adults.

• One series, "Developing Rustic Building Skills," introduces the tools, techniques and shop tricks of building benches, chairs and other rustic items. It is based on Mack's books on how to make rustic furniture.

The Rustic Building Skills class meets noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, starting Jan. 9 .

• The other series is "Sculptural Approaches to Natural Materials." It is intended for artists and spiritual seekers interested in expanding and exploring new materials and ways of seeing and working.

It is a version of what Mack teaches at The Omega Institute in Rhinebeck. This class meets on Fridays, noon to 4 p.m., starting Jan. 15.

Essential information• The workshop are offered in four-hour sessions, which cost $100.

• Each class is limited to a maximum of six people. They meet in Mack's Warwick Village Barn/Studio filled with natural materials and tools.

• Mack will hold an open house at his studio on Friday, Jan. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., for people interested in his winter weekend workshops in ways to use natural materials.
