— Members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Dr. Laurene Iammatteo, her husband, Christopher Rodney, her mother, Ann Iammatteo, and others for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, March 7, to celebrate the one year anniversary of her practice, Iammatteo Family Chiropractic.

The recently expanded new location of her office is at 1136 Kings Highway next to Subtle Energies and between Warwick and Sugar Loaf.

Like father, like daughter
Iammatteo, the daughter of the late Dr. Matthew Iammatteo, is a second generation chiropractor. And she has embraced the chiropractic philosophy her entire life.

Iammatteo was born and raised in Staten Island and grew up in a home office where her family lived above her father's practice.

"I can recall many instances in my childhood where I would seek my father's services for a variety of reasons such as sports injuries, headaches and so forth," she recalled. "It was a great. No matter what my problem was, I would just run downstairs and say 'Daddy fix me' and he always made me feel better."

Iammatteo attended New York University for her undergraduate education where she received a bachelors of science degree cum laude. She then graduated as valedictorian of New York Chiropractic College Class of 1995.

Upon graduation, Iammatteo reopened the chiropractic practice of her late father in Staten Island where she practiced for the next 17 years.

Orange County connections grow

In 2003 she married Christopher Rodney, a former resident of Tuxedo. The couple decided to settle in Warwick to be close to their respective families.

Iammatteo's mother, Ann Iammatteo, lives with the couple. Her sister, Sandra Cordaro, had previously moved from Staten Island to Middletown. And her husband's mother, Jeanne Rodney, was still living in Tuxedo at the time.

"Being close to our family is very important to me" she said. "The only problem was that my practice was still in Staten Island, which was 75 miles away."

But due to her strong connection to the practice, the patients, the building that she was raised in and most importantly the concept of keeping her late father's chiropractic legacy alive, Iammatteo commuted to Staten Island for the next decade.

In 2009 she and her husband were blessed with the birth of their son Brandon Matthew Rodney.

As Brandon approached preschool age, Iammatteo realized that she needed to get her son socially rooted in their home community. So in January 2013, she sold her Staten Island practice and opened a family practice near her hometown of Warwick.

Personalized treatment

"I pride myself on providing hands on individualized quality chiropractic care tailored to meet each patient's specific needs," said Iammatteo. " In addition to adjusting the spine, I feel that it is very important to address the surrounding soft tissue structure in order for the treatment to be most effective. I take the time to work on the muscle tissue to develop it so that patients will maintain the effect of the adjust for a longer duration of time. "

While the main focus of chiropractic care is concentrated on the spine and making sure the vertebrae are aligned properly, Iammatteo also specializes in providing therapy and rehabilitation as well as nutritional advice to promote healing and overall well being. She stated that she frequently revises her treatment plan to ensure that all patients progress each time they walk through the door.
