The following is a summary of Warwick Fire Department activities from the last week, provided by Michael Contaxis, the 1st Assistant Chief and Fire Prevention chairman.
Here are the highlights:
• The Warwick Fire Department has responded to 269 calls for service since the beginning of the year, an increase of two since last week.
• The Warwick Fire Department would like to wish all of the administrators, employees, teachers, students and parents of the Warwick Valley School District a safe and healthy school year.
• Last Monday, the WFD held a department operation drill at Wickham Woodlands.
This is a drill that all four companies work together to drill on skills that are needed when we respond to incidents.
The scenario was a “fully involved structure” fire and an exterior operation was set in place. Water supply was set up by utilizing the lake, the hydrants and tanker operations.
“This drill brought some challenges that we found that we were able to complete without any problems and with a safe resolution,” said Michael Contaxis, the 1st Assistant Chief and Fire Prevention chairman. “Thank you to the volunteers who came out. Thank you to the people who were at Wickham Woodlands who took pictures and sent them to us.”
