The Warwick Fire Department has responded to 130 calls for service including motor vehicle accidents, illegal burning complaints and mutual aid fire calls to the Chester and Pine Island Fire Districts over the past week for structural related fires, Michael Contaxis, 1st Assistant Chief Warwick Fire Department, wrote in his weekly department report. Here are some details:

• This month we recognize to our brother and sister emergency services agencies in the Town of Warwick and Orange County. We would like to recognize Chief McGovern and the Town of Warwick Police Department during National Police Week. We can never thank the Warwick Police Officers and Warwick Police Dispatchers including all agencies for all they do for the Warwick Fire Department and our community. We would also like to thank Captain Frank Cassanite and the Warwick Community Volunteer Ambulance Service. This also includes Greenwood Lake and Pine Island Volunteer Ambulance Services from the Town of Warwick.

• This past week Emergency Services staff from each agency in Warwick were served meals thank you to the efforts of Pete & Tammy Artusa and our community with the sale of the first responder lawn signs.

• This past Saturday the Warwick Fire Department monument received some spring care for this upcoming Memorial Day spearheaded by Hunter Stuart, who is the son of Past Captain Steve Stuart of the Raymond Hose Company #2 and Hope Stuart. Hunter is in the eighth grader at the Warwick Valley Middle School who is completing his Junior National Honor Society Project.
