The Warwick Fire Department has responded to 121 calls for service to date, according to the information provided weekly by Michael Contaxis, the 1st Assistant Chief Warwick Fire Department as well as the WFD's Fire Prevention Chairman.
This past week was national firefighters, nurses and teachers week.
"We would like to thank all of our firefighters that serve our community answering the call during this pandemic when others don’t," Contaxis said. "This past Saturday we thanked our nurses of the SACH Health Care Campus with all Emergency Services agencies doing a drive by thank you including a parade downtown to thank our community and our businesses.
"On Saturday in Memorial Park, the Warwick School District parents and teachers handed out lawn signs to all graduating seniors," he added, "and we would like to thank you all for what you have done to make our children’s lives easier while at home. "
The 1st Assistant Chief also wrote: "The Warwick FD would like to thank Pete and Tammy Artusa from Warwick who helped raise more than $4,000 with donations from our wonderful residents who purchased First Responder Health Care Hero Signs. With the proceeds the money raised will be used at local restaurants to feed our local responders. Pete and Tammy, from the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank you enough."
