• Warwick Fire Prevention Team Report :

Many home fires are preventable. Learning fire prevention is as easy as 1, 2 and 3 right from your smart phone and tablets.

One night after dinner sit with your kids and teach them safety topics and make it fun. Go to the sparkyschoolhouse.org and in this fun and original free app, children are shown by Sparky the Fire Dog himself what a smoke alarm looks like. They will learn the sound a smoke alarm makes, and what to do when they hear that sound. The app, designed for children ages three to five, combines a fun matching game with learning about smoke alarms.

This message is especially important to small children, who may not recognize the sound or are unaware that hearing a smoke alarm means get outside and stay outside.

The app also has tips for children and adults of all ages from businesses to homes to keep us all Warwick Fire Safe.

• On Aug. 24, all companies completed apparatus and buildings checks to ensure our WFD fleet is operational for all future emergencies.

• On the evening of Aug. 27, the Warwick FD Department FAST Team combined of WFD firefighters met at the Goodwill Hook & Ladder Company#1 “Hooks” to complete its monthly scheduled firefighter assist search team operations drill.
