Grappa Ristorante to sponsor eighth annual Backpack Snack dinner-fundraiser

The Backpack Snack Attack program will hold its annual dinner-fundraiser on Monday, Dec. 9.
The eighth annual event, supported by local businesses, organizations and individuals, will be hosted and sponsored by Grappa Ristorante at 22 Railroad Ave. in the Village of Warwick.
Since January 2009, elementary school children in the area have been taking advantage of Backpack Snack Attack, a charitable program designed to ensure that needy children always have enough to eat.
The program, in which volunteers stuff backpacks with food for almost 300 needy children to enable them to eat at home on weekends, is available to public elementary schools in Warwick, Florida, Pine Island and Greenwood Lake.
There will be one seating at 6 p.m. for the dinner, which will feature salad, entrée, soft drinks, dessert and coffee. A cash bar will be available.
The cost per person is $45 payable in advance. All proceeds benefit Backpack Snack Attack.
In addition, Backpack Snack Attack is selling raffle tickets to benefit the program. The drawing will be held during the dinner.
Top prizes include a Thanksgiving Holiday Basket ($150 value) and gift certificates to Grappa Ristorante, Warwick Nails, La Piazza Wine Bar, Nicole's House of Beauty, McDonald's in Chester, Eddie's Roadhouse, Iron Forge Inn, Caffe a la Mode, Larry’s Deli, Ochs Orchard and the Warwick Merchant's Guild along with a Wine Basket by Wine Time.
The raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25.
The drawing will take place at the fundraising dinner. Winners need not be present. Tickets are now being sold by Backpack Snack Attack volunteers and at Grappa Ristorante.
“Thanks to the tremendous support of Grappa Ristorante owners Tony and Nick,” said Shirley Puett, Backpack Snack Attack's program director, “Backpack Snack Attack has conducted multiple fundraisers each year, successfully raising money for the food that goes directly to needy children in our town.”
