Three changes debuted Monday, July 13, at he Florida Public Library: Regional Inter-Library Loan (ILL) opened, patrons are now able to use public access computers in the library by appointment and quarantine of returned library materials decreased from seven to three days.

Regional ILL expands the library materials open to cardholders for curbside pick-up from just Florida’s collections to eleven Orange County libraries, plus those of Gardiner and Wallkill in Ulster County.

Placing holds on items remains the same. Use the online catalog, the RCLS Gateway phone app, call FPL at (845) 651-7659 or email fpl@rcls.org to reserve materials, then pick them up in the parking lot after notification by library staff.

Patrons of other libraries are welcome to pick up items in Florida.

To make a 30-minute appointment to use a library computer, give FPL a call. The number of available computer workstations will be limited by social distancing requirements. All persons entering the building must have face covering. Computers will be cleaned after each use.

Wi-Fi is available from the library’s rear deck for patrons wishing to use their own computers or devices outside at the picnic tables. Appointments may also be made for printing, photocopying, faxing and notary public service.

All materials checked out before FPL reopened in June were due July 13. No fines have accrued or are due on any of the many items kept safe at home since the March closure. No overdue fines will be charged through Labor Day.

Returned materials will be held in quarantine for three days and will come off the patron’s library record when they are checked back in.

Many new books and DVDs have arrived in the last few weeks, so library staff remind patrons to return old items and look for New Arrivals of their favorite authors and series.
