José Diaz Velez of Warwick passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.
Born in Puerto Rico on April 14, 1945, he was the son of Andrea Velez and Felix Diaz.
José was a truck driver for the United States Postal Service in New York City.
José is survived by his wife, Ruth Kelly; daughter Ruth Figueroa and her husband Luis; son José Diaz; and daughter Eunice Diaz; grandson Alejandro Rodriguez; and six sisters: Gloria Díaz, Carmen Luisa Diaz, Ana Justina Diaz, Ney Diaz Colon, Isabel Diaz and Xista Rafaela Diaz. He was predeceased by two sisters, Delia and Josefa Diaz and a brother, Luis Felix Diaz.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at St. Stephen the First Martyr, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.
