Mike Levine was an award-winning columnist, and an inspired writer and editor who was dedicated to community journalism and watchdog reporting. He died at age 54 in 2007 at home in Monroe.

But for three days a week for more than 20 years, Levine wrote stories that celebrated the human experience and took a closer look at the world around us. "Words to Repair the World: Stories of Life, Humor and Everyday Miracles” is a collection of 76 of Levine's best columns.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. in Monroe Temple – 314 North Main St., Ellen Levine, Mike’s wife, and reporter and columnist Steve Israel will highlight just a few of the columns that Levine wrote during his career at the Times Herald-Record, including "Adam Finds the Light" – a Hanukkah story.

Books will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the Mike Levine Journalism Education Fund, a nonprofit organization that supports training journalists in the community and watchdog reporting.
