Greenwood Lake rowing club wins national championship

GREENWOOD LAKE — The East Arm Rowing Club (E.A.R.C) of Greenwood Lake participated in U.S. Rowing Masters National Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Aug. 14-17.

The four-day event featured 199 events across 11 age categories. Nearly 1,500 entries were received, and more than 6,000 rowers participated.

Six medals, including gold four times

Entering seven events, East Arm Rowing Club won four gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal.

With 68 teams from across the United States and Canada converging on Grand Rapids, East Arm Rowing Club placed fifth overall in Team Efficiency. Team Efficiency is calculated on number of team members participating and medals won.

The eight members representing East Arm Rowing Club were Jim Cody, Catherine Cody, Robert Zimmer, Jean Zimmer, Kate Glover, Cathy Lucking, Brian Walk, Craig Shepherd and Coxwain Heather Brooks Franklin.

Background
Established in the late eighties, the East Arm Rowing Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of rowing in the Hudson Valley region.

The club is open to both seasoned and novice rowers of all ages with programs for juniors, adults and seniors/masters. The club offers the use of its boats and provides internationally experienced coaches and competitions.

Each year, E.A.R.C. has a learn-to-row program for newcomers to the sport and also hosts the annual Tail of the Fox Head Race in September.
