GREENWOOD LAKE — Greenwood Lake Public Library's “Libraries Rock” online and in-person programming registration for all ages begins Thursday, June 21, at 9 a.m. as Teen Volunteering for Summer Reading sign-up continues.

Participants may register at this time by accessing the Greenwood Lake Public Library website (ww.gwllibrary.org) or in-person.

In-person registration for the Youth Summer Reading Program are as follows:

• Thursday, June 21: 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m.; and

• Friday, June 22, 9 a.m. to noon.

The library is looking for teen volunteers (those entering grade 7th through 12th grade) to assist with book reporting, programs and the closing carnival.

This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock” for ages 2 years to kids entering 6th grade as well as for kids entering grades 7-12.

Registration in SRP is required to be eligible to attend all supplemental programs (which will also require individual registration), and all participants must have a valid Greenwood Lake Public Library card.

Children should have a parent with them for summer reading registration and for getting a new or replacement card.

Each week, children are encouraged to come in weekly at reporting times from July 5—July 27, Thursdays and Fridays (10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.), and Saturdays (10 a.m. to noon) on the books that they read.

Summer reading will conclude on Saturday, July 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Homespun Carnival complete with refreshments, crafts, prizes, activities and games.

All children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

'Libraries Rock' programmingDuring registration time, patrons will be able to sign-up for a wide variety of programs that represent the “Libraries Rock” theme in some way.

• For children and young adults, comedian and musician, The Spoonman, will open the festivities on Tuesday, July 3.

• There will be two four- week programs with the Greenwood Lake’s own The Rock Underground: Glee (ages 6-12) and Sound and Music in Gaming (Ages 10-17).

• Stacey Lawrence from the Greenwood Lake Garden Center returns to Plant a Rock Garden.

• Dinosaurs Rock will present their exhibit of over 30 specimens;

• Jamming on the Didgeridoo and Jewelry Making round out the summer.

Bingo, movie nights, music and more• The Youth Study Room will continue to be open all summer long with monthly Bingo (Tuesday, July 3, and Aug. 7, 6 p.m.), Tuesday movie nights and Wednesday game night.

• As far as adult programming, registration may be done online, at the front desk or by phone.

• This season, the library is welcoming local favorites Some Guys and a Broad for a special acoustic rock performance.

• Jane Barba will present a lecture on Planning a Rock and Sedum Garden, Sara Gallmann returns with Monday Chair Yoga and Nancy Kaufer Makes Sushi Rolls.
