'It is fitting and appropriate to do so'

  • Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for everyone who has died serving in the American armed forces. The holiday, originally known as Decoration Day, started after the Civil War to honor the Union and Confederate dead.

With the Memorial Day holiday weekend upon us, thoughts focus on our living and deceased veterans and the brave men and women who continue to serve our country.

It is fitting and appropriate to do so.

Not just this weekend, but throughout the year the VFW Post 4662 Auxiliary continues to honor our veterans.

The mission of the Auxiliary is to honorably support the veterans of Post 4662 in achieving the mutual objective to serve all veterans, the military, and the community.

Many opportunities exist within the Auxiliary to fulfill this mission and proudly support our veterans and country.

The Auxiliary is currently recruiting new members and encouraging participation in this noble mission.

Further information about joining the Auxiliary or answers to questions in this regard may be obtained by calling the Veterans Information Center, at 988-VETS (8387).
