WARWICK — The Friendly Visitor Program is a volunteer service where neighbors can lend a hand to a Warwick resident in need.

Starting this calendar year, the Town of Warwick has collaborated with the Office for the Aging and Jewish Family Service to bring this opportunity to people living in the town.

Volunteers are matched with neighbors who need a little help to remain in their own home. There is no charge for the service.

Volunteers make a difference by providing:

• Transportation to appointments;

• Help with grocery shopping;

• Home visits;

• Chatting on the phone; and

• Clerical assistance.

Meanwhile, volunteers:

• Have an impact on the life of their neighbors;

• Donate their time to fit their personal timeframes;

• Are trained;

• Go through a background check at no charge; and

• Will be insured while they are volunteering.

Simple gestures make a difference. Feeling connected to your community is a benefit for the neighbor in need, and to the volunteer.
