WARWICK — Award-winning poet Lauri Byro will be reading from her new volume of poetry, "Bloomsberries," on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m., at the Albert Wisner Public Library in Warwick.

The poems were inspired by the Bloomsbury Set, a group of influential writers, philosophers and artists active in the early 20th century.

The Bloomsbury Set continues to fascinate decades after they used to gather in smart houses in London for sparkling conversation. The most prominent members include: Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, E.M. Forester and Lytton Strachey. Their books are widely read and been recreated in film and Keynesian Economic is relevant in today’s world and widely taught in college’s and universities.

Refreshments will be served and a book signing will follow the discussion with copies available for purchase. Registration is requested to attend the program.

To register, visit albertwisnerlibrary.org or call the library at 986-1047 ext. 3.

Meanwhile, the library will present the film Carrington on Monday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. as part of its regular Monday Afternoon Movies.

Carrington relates the story of painter Dora Carrington and her love for the gay Bloomsbury writer Lytton Strachey in the early 1900s. Rated R; 121 minutes.

Byro will be on hand to offer an introduction to the film.
