PINE ISLAND — The Warwick Hope Chest Thrift Boutique, located at 20 Schoolhouse Road in the former elementary school in Pine Island, is a non-profit organization offering designer and upscale new and gently used clothing at discounts.

During the past six years the organization has given away more than $200,000 worth of clothing to people in need through Warwick's clothing bank, The Clothing Closet.

Anyone in need is welcome to shop at The Clothing Closet for free clothing, but also for free toys, books and games.

On Tuesday, June 13, members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and a representative from the office of Assemblyman Karl Brabenec joined Director Sylvia Diaz along with founders and members of the organization to celebrate the installation of new signs, making it easier to locate their facility.

Warwick Hope Chest's new sign was designed and installed by Susan Bemel of Hand Crafted Carved Wood Signs in Pine Island.

And in addition to the sign on Schoolhouse Road, she also designed and installed a smaller sign pro bono on County Route. 1 alongside Panco Petroleum, which allowed the installation free of charge.

"Susan and her team," said Diaz, "took great care to craft a beautiful sign replicating our well known logo. Without the generosity of businesses like these, Warwick Hope Chest would not be able to serve our growing community. And if you are looking for a way to give back to your community, Warwick Hope Chest is always in need of volunteers."

Warwick Hope Chest recently expanded to include a fashion floor, specializing in gently used prom dresses, formal wear, party dresses and men's suits.

Hours are Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday and Saturday from 10 to 1 p.m.
