WARWICK — On Friday evening, May 12, the Warwick Valley School District held its annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) fair at the Warwick Valley High School.

The theme of this year's STEAM Fair was interactivity.

Warwick Valley Middle School Principal Dr. Lisamarie Spindler explained that she had a vision for the evening of the community coming together and interacting with the displays and the student projects to experience what the district has to offer.

Visitors were not only able to see what students were currently doing in the STEAM fields, but were also invited to interact with the displays.

They were able to participate in Maker Spaces, 3D Printing, YoYo making, unplugged engineering projects and robot and Lego League demonstrations.

Middle school students had been working with their high school mentors on their entries for months.

"Events such as this reflect the fact that our students get exposure to hands-on learning that challenges them to think critically and creatively," said Yvonne Koulikov, the school district's instructional technology specialist. "It allows them to apply important content knowledge in meaningful ways."
