— The Town of Warwick Republican Committee has endorsed the current incumbent town officials in their bid for re-election on Nov. 7.

The committee gave its blessing to Warwick Town Councilmen Floyd DeAngelo and Mickey Shuback as well as Town Justice Peter Barlet, Town Clerk Eileen Astorino and Receiver of Taxes Brenda Faulls.

The committee's press release detailing the endorsements also included comments from each candidate:

Councilman Floyd DeAngelo: "I am grateful that my fellow Republicans have recognized that our team of candidates have a proven track record of providing fiscally responsible government while improving the quality of life for our residents."

Councilman Mickey Shuback: “I look forward to a vigorous campaign that will carry to our residents the issues of less government, low taxes and efficient services.”

Town Clerk Eileen Astorino: “It is an honor to be once again endorsed by the Warwick Republican Committee. I am privileged to have served as the Town Clerk for the last four years and look forward to doing my part in keeping our town on the leading edge of local government."

Justice Peter Barlet: “The endorsement of the Town of Warwick Republican Committee is most appreciated and is a recognition, individually and collectively, that we are doing the job we were elected to do – and doing it well! Along with my fellow Justice we have streamlined the court process, secured thousands of grant dollars to upgrade the court facilities and have administered justice fairly and consistently for our residents.”

Reciever of Taxes Brenda Faulls: “My staff and I strive to make the collection of your taxes as efficient and cost effective as possible, always with a smile."

Candidate for county officeThe 62-member Republican Committee also endorsed candidates for re-election to Orange County office, including the three legislators who represent the Town of Warwick in the Orange County Legislature: Barry Cheney, who represents District 8; Paul Ruszkiewicz, who represents district 3; and John Vero from Chester, who represents district 10.

"All of these gentleman bring unique qualifications to their positions," the committee said in its press release announcing these endorsements.

"Barry Cheney has a long career as a civil engineer and is currently deputy mayor in the Village of Warwick.

"Paul Ruszkiewicz is the only representative in the Legislature that is an active farmer and he runs a farm family business in Pine Island with his dad John.

"John Vero has run a successful small business in the Village of Chester for many years.

These skills have served our residents well, helping to restore fiscal responsibility to County Government and has ensured that county tax dollars are spent efficiently, just like we all do at home."

The committee also unanimously endorsed County Executive Steve Neuhaus, District Attorney Dave Hoovler and County Clerk Annie Rabbitt for re-election, citing their success in shrinking the size of county government, restoring fiscal order and keeping taxes in line.

Bill Deprospo was endorsed, 36 to 7, in his bid to run for Orange County Court judge.
