— Guests will have an opportunity to step back in time with the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce when the Town of Warwick Historical Society hosts an after-hours business mixer on Thursday evening, Feb. 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Baird's Tavern, 105 Main Street in Warwick Village.

Baird's Tavern is among the most legendary buildings in Warwick's history.

In 1766, Francis Baird built his limestone tavern as an inn to house travelers that, along with a store, served a vital role in community life.

George Washington, then commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, recorded his 1783 tavern visit in his diary.

His wife, Martha, also stayed at the Baird's Tavern on her way to see Washington in his Newburgh headquarters in 1786.

Historical Society Executive Director Lisa-Ann Weisbrod is planning the event exclusively for the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and friends.

"I'm very excited to team up with the Warwick Chamber for this occasion and the chance to showcase the Town of Warwick Historical Society," she said.

Guests are urged to pack plenty of business cards and be prepared to meet, greet and socialize with business professionals from around the Hudson Valley while soaking in the rich history found inside the quaint Baird's Tavern.

They can also enjoy a complimentary feast of savory hors d'oeuvres paired with wine. And attendees will also be eligible to win a variety of raffles and prizes.

Essential informationNon-members are also invited to join chamber members for this unique social event. Cost is $10 for members and their guests and $20 for non-members.

For more information or to make a reservation, call the chamber at: 845-986-2720 or e-mail info@warwickcc.org.
