Warwick receives $50,000 state grant to purchase a new backhoeALBANY — The Town of Warwick has received a $50,000 grant for the purchase of a new backhoe for the town’s Department of Public Works.
State Sen. John J. Bonacic (R-C-I-Mt. Hope secured the grant through the State Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 state budget.
The Town of Warwick has a 1984 backhoe that is used extensively for road repairs, water and sewer repairs and public works construction projects throughout the town. The grant will help the town purchase a new, replacement backhoe.
“The new backhoe will not only improve operations at the Town DPW," Bonacic said in the press release detailing the grant, "it will save taxpayers money.”
Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton said: “Once again Senator Bonacic has helped the town replace a vital piece of equipment that we otherwise would not have been able to fund this year. This assistance to obtain a new backhoe will ensure that the Department of Public Works can complete critical repairs on our roads and water/sewer systems.”
