State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) joined his colleagues from both the Senate and the Assembly Monday, Jan. 30, at a press conference in Albany in support of “Blue Lives Matter” Legislation. The bill, S.1114-A, of which Senator Bonacic is a co-sponsor, would designate certain offenses against law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical services personnel as hate crimes. “The anti-law enforcement rhetoric has reached a level in this country that requires elected officials to act to try and work to protect our local heroes," Bonacic said. "I am proud to co-sponsor this legislation because it will hopefully serve as a deterrent from doing harm to our law enforcement and first responders.”
