Chosun Taekwondo Academy to host a weekend of charity and education

WARWICK — On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11, members of the Chosun Taekwondo Academy will host their 19th annual Open House and Book and Bake Sale at the academy's new location at 60 Galloway Road in Warwick.

Proceeds of the sale will benefit the Warwick Lions and Warwick Rotary Club’s holiday event for local families in need as well as the Warwick Historical Society and the Warwick 9/11 Memorial in Veterans Memorial Park.


Hours for the open house on Saturday will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• The academy will offer a free introductory hatha yoga class beginning at 11 a.m., open to teens and adults.

• A free introductory martial arts class, open to ages six through adult, is scheduled for noon.

• That will be followed by a taekwondo demonstration by the Chosun students at 12:30 p.m.


On Sunday, the seventh annual Chosun Leadership Team Book and Bake Sale will be held at Lewis Park, located at the corner of Main and South streets in the village, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Contributions of books by the public to be sold at the event can be dropped off at Etched-In-Time Engraving located at 58 Main St. in Warwick.

"As martial artists," said Master Doug Cook, owner and 6th Dan head instructor of the Chosun Taekwondo Academy, "it is not only our responsibility to practice taekwondo effectively, but to enrich the community in which we live"
