PINE ISLAND — On Sunday, Oct. 11, Alexis Laurence opened her store, "That Place at the Onion" at Jolly Onion Square, 625 Glenwood Road in Pine Island with an estate and tent sale.

There was music, refreshments and wine were served to a large crowd; sales were good at the opening.

Her father George Laurence, who taught her the business from his store on Railroad Avenue in Warwick, opened a bottle of champagne for all and made a toast for his daughter's success.

Cheetah Haysom, a member of the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, also wished Alexis success during the toast.

Entertainment was provided by the Joshua Tree.

On its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ThatPlaceAtTheOnion/info?tab=overview), the store is described as "an eclectic array of fabulous finds. We specialize in estate sales and sell everything from clothing and jewelry to furniture and houseware."
