Albert Wisner Public Library hosts the art of Nancy Kearing Hull in September
WARWICK — Visible Music, a show of work on paper and canvas by Nancy Hull Kearing will be on display at the Albert Wisner Public Library from Sept. 3 to 30.
“These paintings and collages develop from my preference for geometric forms improvised in the spirit of the many kinds of music that I enjoy, " Kearing said. "I try to put into my art the spirit that moves me from pieces like an Astor Piazzolla tango, or something by Charlie Parker, J.S. Bach or Latin jazz or the waltz from Der Rosenkavalier.”
Using geometric elements, a colorful palette and automatic expressive gestures Kearing creates art that has been described as visible music.
Kearing studied at Yale with Josef Albers. She has worked with the architect I.M. Pei. Her paintings are in public and private collections in Tokyo, Stockholm and around the U.S.
The library will hold a meet the artist reception on Sept. 7, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Library.
