Warwick Middle School to field ice hockey team
Parent group seeks additional players; program open to all who want to play
WARWICK— A group of Warwick Ice Hockey parents are leading the effort to re-establish ice hockey at the Middle School level.
"The excitement of playing for your school and your friends is a great feeling and we want to offer that to our children," James DeSotle wrote in his press release announcing the effort. "The longer term goal will be to use the Middle School as a feeder program for the High School ice hockey team. This is step one is a long re-building process. "
The team is open to anyone that wants to play. The focus will be on building the players' confidence and sense of team.
"Hockey is just the tool," DeSotle added. "We want the kids to feel like they are part of something bigger.
All games will be played on Sundays (starting in mid-October and ending in March) at Skylands Iceworld, which is located about 20 minutes from Warwick on Route 23 in Stockholm N.J.
Eight players have committed to the team; DeSotle said the group would like to bring on 10 more.
