WARWICK — First responders answered a call for a one-car accident that occurred near 169 West St. in Warwick at about 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10.

When police, fire and ambulance services arrived, they found the 2006 Honda Civic driven by Lorraine Salas, 41, of Warwick, had struck a fire hydrant and a telephone pole.

For safety reasons, Warwick Police closed West Street while crews from Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., Warwick Valley Telephone and municipal services worked to replace the downed pole and make repairs. A spokesman for O&R said none of its customers lost power.

However, Warwick Valley High School and Middle School buses had to be rerouted, resulting in delays.

Salas had to be removed from the car by emergency service personnel using a cutting device. She was taken to St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick where she was treated.

The 2006 Honda Civic was towed by Freeman’s Auto Services to its facility at 60 Galloway Road.

The cause for the crash is under investigation.
