Annual celebration of Pine Island and all things local set for Aug. 5
PINE ISLAND — Some of the most distinguished chefs in the Warwick Valley will join forces with the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce for the 2014 Black Dirt Feast on Tuesday, August 5.
The Black Dirt Feast showcases the produce from local farms and the award winning chefs who utilize them.
This celebration of local farmers and restaurateurs pairs a sumptuous al fresco meal with fine wines on the great lawn of Scheuermann Farms & Greenhouses.
Guests sit at a tablescape of beautiful linens, china and crystal as they bask in the sunset of the breathtaking Black Dirt Region amid live music.
This year's faire consists of a six-course tasting menu from chefs
Shawn Hubbell of Amuzae LLC
Heather Kurosz of Black Dirt Gourmet
Kevin May from Bottoms Up
Erik Johansen of Iron Forge Inn
James Haurey of The Grange and Chef
Geoffory Deconinck of the Glenmere Mansion.
The Brass Quintessence, five professional music teachers from the Middletown area, will provide entertainment during the cocktail hour.
The Hudson Valley Quartet, four local professionals who have played all over the world, will provide the dinner entertainment.
"This is the sixth anniversary of the Black Dirt Feast and we are looking forward to another successful farm to table affair," Chamber President John Redman said.
The Black Dirt Feast, hosted by the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, benefits the local community with donations for food banks, local beautification and The Black Dirt Scholarship, which, this year, will award two scholarships to local students.
Tickets are $100 per person.
