Each of the 1,620 flags outside the Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home, located at 17 Oakland Ave. in Warwick, represents a veteran from this community who has passed away. The flags were placed this year by Matt Vander Plaat, 15, his brother Jack, 10 and Skyler Paladino, 7.
