Grace Yurchuk, left front, and Isabelle Marseille, right front are picture with their teachers Ed & Margaret Korczynski, operators of the Sussex County Music Workshop. Both girls participated, along with other students, in a recital April 5 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Warwick. They were also among four students, form the studio, selected to play at The Walter Engel Festival of Young Performers in Ridgewood NJ. The festival is held each year in honor of Walter Engel, who died several years ago. He was a great musician, and he was dedicated to encouraging young musicians to perform, and pursue careers in music. He was the driving force behind the creation of the Festival, and it is now dedicated to his honor.
Grace is eleven years old and is a 6th grader at Warwick Valley Middle School. In addition to piano, Grace plays violin in the school orchestra, and has been selected for the All - County Orchestra. She is also a member of the children’s choir at St. Steven’s Church in Warwick. Isabelle is fifteen and attends Warwick Valley High School. In addition to playing piano, she is a member of the women’s choir, and the drama club. She also participates in the National Guild of Musicians evaluations, which are held each year.
